One day course
All those who work with, or care for, young children and babies.
Aim:
To ensure that students are provided with up to date knowledge in order to deal with and treat children and babies involved in accidents or who are ill
Objective:
To instruct students in techniques devised for all paediatric emergencies. To provide students with the training to carry out safe First Aid practices until the arrival of further medical aid. Course Content: |

- Understand relevant regulations
- Prioritise first aid needs
- Know how to contact the emergency services
- Resuscitation
- Choking
- Airway problems of paediatrics: Asthma, Croup, Epiglottitis
- Allergic reactions
- Burns and scalds
- Wounds and bleeding
- Understand the principles and use of first aid equipment and record keeping other medical emergencies: Fractures, Meningitis, Infection (Septicaemia), Stings and Bites, Earache

NB: An open forum is included at the end of the course providing an opportunity for specific questions or concerns to be discussed.
