Manual Handling (2 days)

All Wales NHS Manual Handling Training Passport &  Information Scheme

Manual handling - patients
This 2 day course is aimed at individuals involved in the care profession who are required to carry out activities which involve the moving and handling of people. The initial part of the course involves learning manual handling principles. The second part of the course involves learning and practicing safer patient handling techniques specific to people.

This course will follow the guidelines of the All Wales NHS Manual Handling Training Passport &  Information Scheme

 

Manual handling course

This is a summary of the training and includes the following:

  • An overview of current legislation relevant to manual handling
  • Back anatomy and its function
  • Causes of injury
  • Prevention of injury
  • Ergonomics and Risk Assessment
  • Safer Moving and Handling techniques
  • practical sessions including the use of:
  • Assisting clients to stand and sit
  • Bed to chair
  • Chair to bed
  • Controlling a falling client
  • Slide Sheets
  • Moving clients in bed
  • Hoist & Standaid
  • Verbal instructions

NB. This course is only available in-house and relevant hoists must be available for practical sessions to take place.
This course contributes to the underpinning knowledge for the NVQ competence but may not necessarily cover the entire range statements.

Assessment: is by continuous assessment by course trainer.
Certificate of attendance is awarded at the end of the course.

 


Course Fees = £675 per group -- £70 per person
